About me
Jan Blancato, PhD is a Professor of Oncology and a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at Georgetown University Medical Center. For 20 years, she has worked in Translational Science and performed CLIA genetic testing for single gene and chromosomal syndromes. She is a Board-Certified PhD Medical Geneticist, ABMGG and Genetic Counselor, ABGC with expertise in Neurogenetic diseases. She has been working with clinic teams serving patients with Huntington Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, and Alzheimer’s Disease. She provides lectures and case report seminars for the Med Star Department of Neurology residents and fellows and the Genomic Medicine team.
Dr. Blancato develops curriculum and has taught laboratory courses in biomedicine through the NIH and summer training grants. The student population for those courses are professional scientists, Postdoctoral trainees and M.D.s. For over 15 years she lectured and directed laboratories in the prestigious NIH/NINR Summer Genetics Institute on the NIH campus. Her experience in genetic education and training leadership, mentoring, online teaching, and building and maintaining partnerships is extensive.
